Did you know?

Was there ever a time something weird happened to your body and you didn't know what it was or what caused it? Of course there was! Today I will be talking about common occurrences that happens to your body .
1. Sleep Paralysis

One of the most identified phenomenon of the human bodies is sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is the phenomena in which the body is in a paralyzed state while the conscious mind is awake. One would try to move to get up out of their beds, but the body would not be able to move. This occurrence is also associated with paranormal accounts such as an old hag sitting on the person's chest making it harder for the person to move and breathe. What is actually happening is that a hormone produced by the body during sleep which causes a mechanism in the body called muscular atonia. This suppresses the muscles in the body except for the diaphragm and the eye muscles. Sometimes the body becomes alert while this mechanism is happening. This is what we call sleep paralysis. If this should ever happen to you, do not worry because it only lasts for a few moments. This phenomenon happens so often that it is said that everyone would experience sleep paralysis at least once in their lifetime.

2. Floaters

Have you ever had blue or white spot float into your vision and you didn't know what it was. These are called floaters. Floaters occur when pieces of the eyes gel-like vitreous break loose into the inner portion of the eye.
If this becomes frequent, you may need to seek medical attention because this could be a sign of retinal tear or detachment. Otherwise, these floaters are considered normal or even a sign of eye development.

3. Hypnic Jerk

Have there ever been a time when you were just falling asleep and you dreamt you were falling and you woke up in a sudden jolt? This phenomenon is also very common and is quite normal. It is called the hypnagogic myoclonic twitch or the hypnic jerk. As you fall asleep, your muscle starts to relax and as your body does this, your brain misinterprets this as the body "falling". The brain then sends signals down to the body to jerk the body upright. Studies are still being conducted as to why this happens.

Everyone has had strange things that happen to their bodies and wonder why it happens. If you any other strange things that happens, feel free to comment on this entry!
